WDBC Kids Volunteer Guide (K-6)
Welcome to k-6
Thank you so much for giving your time and heart to disciple our children.
Here’s a bit of a ‘how-to’ guide to help answer any questions you may have so that your time with the kids is fun and rewarding.
Roster
Please log into the ‘Services’ app and stay up-to-date with current roster.
when you arrive
The craft activities and worksheets will already be printed out and left on the table near the drum kit.
Lights should already be turned on, but if they aren’t, the light switches are located by the Kachan entrance door.
The Airconditioning control is kept on top of the cupboard by the door.
Please put the 2 flags out on display so new parents can easily find the room.
Parent sign-in
Welcome the parents and have them sign their children in by checking off their names on the iPad. Any new children must be registered before we take them into our care.
Give parents a take home sheet, so they know what their kids learned today and they can carry on the conversation at home.
audio-visual
The sound desk is set up and all ready to go. All you need to do is:
1. turn the power on (switch located on the back right of the sound desk)
2. plug in your phone (lighting cable is provided. please bring any other adaptors you may need for your phone model)
3. turn the stage speaker on (switch located on the back of the speaker)
A HDMI cable is provided to connect your laptop to the TV. If you have a Mac, please bring any adaptors you may need)
music
It’s a great ice-breaker for the kids to have some music playing in the background when they arrive.
To help them become familiar with the songs in the program, Orange have complied a Spotify Playlist called ‘Orange Kids Music’
starter activities
When kids arrive, one of the starter activities has been to have the children draw on some roll-up paper to create artwork around the theme we’re currently talking about. Use the same sheet of paper throughout the module to help reinforce the theme and so kids can see see their creation evolve.
finishing up
Have the kids ready to head back to join their parents in church around 10.40am
No matter where the church service is up to, you’re welcome to bring them into the auditorium anytime after 10.40am, just be mindful if someone is leading prayer and wait until they finish. Watch that each child finds their family and help any little one that may need it.
To help the next team coming in, please leave the room as you find it by returning any chairs to their original position, putting all rubbish in the bin, and giving the carpet a quick vacuum if needed. The vacuum is located under the desk in the adjoining room.
Incident Report
In the event that a child has a medical episode, incurs an injury or has a disagreement or argument with others, please fill out this Inicident Report to let our leadership team know, so we can take any appropriate action needed to keep our church family safe.
